SOMA is a woman-led fashion brand based in Pakistan committed to support skilled artisans from across the Northern parts to the Southern Coast of the country. SOMA preserves the art of traditional hand embroidery and the “Khussa” or “jutti” making technique that dates back to the Mughal Era 16th- 17th century. Blending East–West design with slow fashion values, SOMA is more than a brand — it’s a movement to empower, celebrate heritage, and create timeless pieces with meaning.

Since 2015, SOMA has created a business model with a mission to empower artisans from all regions of Pakistan with roots embedded in cultural and social sustainability. Every stitch tells a story of culture, resilience, and responsible beauty.
Our mission is to preserve this priceless artistry while uplifting communities, particularly women from vulnerable and marginalized backgrounds, by offering dignified and meaningful livelihoods. With SOMA, each thread becomes a bridge between past and present, tradition and innovation, beauty and purpose.

OUR TEAM
Our diverse and creative team is led by founder and CEO Samia Akram, with men and women from Pakistan to Bali, Indonesia.
Most of our employees are from Pakistan who are from vulnerable backgrounds. We work with women whose lives have been marked by hardship — survivors of domestic abuse, acid attacks, displacement, and gender-based discrimination. By offering them dignified work, we transform pain into purpose, giving space for healing, empowerment, and hope.
SOMA STUDIO
Located across Pakistan, SOMA’s workshops are more than places of work — they are safe spaces where artisans from all walks of life can create, learn, and thrive. Here, women and men find dignity through fair wages, ethical working conditions, and a strong and safe culture of care that extends to their families.
We believe empowerment goes beyond the individual. That’s why SOMA supports artisans’ children with education, healthcare, and community initiatives — ensuring every stitch we make helps weave brighter futures for generations to come.
SOMA x Special Olympics Pakistan
SOMA is proud to collaborate with the incredible children of Special Olympics Pakistan, creating a limited-edition collection of hand-painted shoes. Each pair is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, with the tops painted by children with disabilities who poured their creativity, joy, and individuality into every design.
This initiative is about more than footwear — it’s about inclusion, empowerment, and celebrating the unique talents of these young artists. 100% of proceeds from this collection go directly to Special Olympics Pakistan, supporting their mission to provide opportunities, training, and community for children with disabilities across the country.
